You can’t always get what you want.

Shy and sweet Lia Gardella has only wished to make her father proud. Dropping plates, spilling drinks, and missing orders, she’s never fit in at the family business. And after nearly incinerating the whole building, she ran from the stressful environment.

Want not.

As head chef of one of the city’s best eateries, Finn Newland seems to have it all. He enjoyed a youthful career in the MMA. Women worship him. After years of hard work, he finally has an opportunity to take over the restaurant he’s always considered his own.

Be careful what you wish for.

When Lia’s father summons her to supervise Gardella’s, instead of handing the reins to Finn, no one is happy. They don’t know how to collaborate on running the restaurant. Nor are they confident they can continue to deny their attraction to one another. But before they can attempt a partnership of any kind, they’ll need to find the culprit behind a trend of spiteful sabotage aimed at Gardella’s.

Review

Finn is HOTT, that definitely came through the pages for me. MMA, that is one thing that just automatically sends strong alpha vibes. Lia is the opposite, she is shy and timid, which always makes for a great romantic connection. The romance was a great touch and helps to lighten the mood in many areas.

The suspense aspect was very well done. It gave the characters something to deal with and showed their ability to connect while under pressure.

Amabel Daniels brings in deep undertones to her Romantic Suspense. I really like the way her characters have things to overcome personally while they navigate the action and the romance, it really gives a greater connection to them for the reader.

Release Blitz: Saved by the Single Dad Seal

Title: Saved By The Single Dad Seal
Series:  (Hearts of Stone #2)
Author: Nikky Kaye
Genre: Navy Seal Romance

When my friend Evie lost her heart—and her v-card—to billionaire Dominic Stone, it put me in the line of fire of his adopted brother, Jake.

That line of fire is so hot that I nearly melted when he suggested we go together to Evie and Dom’s wedding. I don’t trust my hormones around him, so I told him—and myself—that I wasn’t interested.

Even if he is a wall of perfection with a bad boy smirk and a filthy mouth.

Even if the tattoos on his arms shift hypnotically when he holds his adorable daughter.

Even if his military training and fierce protective streak could shelter me from the secret admirer whose creepy gifts are escalating.

Even if… oh, who am I kidding?

I’m in real trouble, but I’m not sure who is more dangerous—my stalker, or Jake Stone.

Saved By the Single Dad SEAL is a steamy story of self-discovery, steely nerves (and other body parts), suspense, and singularly bad ninja skills. This follow-up to Bought By the Billionaire Brothers can be read as a standalone—if your knees don’t wobble too much, that is!

Katy Nixon is the playful alter ego of the already playful Nikky Kaye, who is the alter ego of— wait, I’m not telling you that! Damn, I’d make a terrible secret superhero. I love reading and writing funny, sexy stories. I am over-educated and under-organized, and have a terrible habit of adding more books to my Kindle than I can possibly read. My auction experience is limited to eBay and viewings at Sotheby’s and Christie’s in New York. The only double penetration I’ve had is being sandwiched in my own bed by my young twin sons. Today, the biggest risk I took was having cotton candy for dinner. And it was fucking delicious

Fire War Book 1

“Man up,” he told himself. “Man up.” It was what his father always told him, and there was nothing more that he wanted than to be a man. So he took a deep breath, filling his nose with the scents of baseball and looked up to the sky, squinting a little.

It was a plane, not far from the blimp he noticed earlier; that was all. Nothing to be afraid of. A tiny sigh of relief escaped his lips as he saw the familiar shape outlined over his head, wings spread out against the sky.

It was the last thing he saw before the explosion ripped his small body apart with the force of a hundred suns. The quiet of thousands of lives extinguished in the blink of a second took over, disturbed only by falling rubble. The sun beat down again, hot and sticky, on what remained of Tom, his father, and all the others who had been unfortunate enough to be at Wrigley Field for the biggest game of the season."

---
Late in the 21st century, the United Continental States of America is running smoothly.

Unemployment has been eradicated, terrorism is no more, and any internal dissent diminishes by the day. Most give credit to President Meyers, and many can no longer remember the last election, but it is a small price to pay to keep the country safe from the terrorist group Hariq Jihad.

Things aren’t as they seem, however, as Gunnery Sergeant Anthony Jackson is conscripted into the personal security detail of President Meyers. While the only thing he places above his country is his family, he begins to feel that not everyone is content with how things are. Even more, he begins to fear for his oldest daughter’s life as she begins to question the eroding personal freedoms and democratic rights. Considering that entire families have disappeared over the slightest infraction, one cannot be too careful.

Torn between liberty and safety, family and country, can Jackson balance his loyalties, or will he be lead to an explosive collision with the system he has dedicated his life to serving? In this explosive and highly acclaimed dystopian political thriller novel, the world you live in will never look the same again!

Fire War II: Treason

Anthony Jackson, military veteran, member of the Presidential security team, father, husband, patriot and spy. His daughter safely recovered from a government detention centre, Jackson's role as a spy for the anti government Apocolyte group is firmly cemented. All he needs to do is keep his head down, do his job, and get intel back to his rebel handler. But as Jackson's suspicions about President Meyers are proven true, and the tasks he's asked to handle become more and more immoral, his loyalties are becoming strained.

Where is the line between truth and lie? Between loyal citizen and blind follower? Between right and wrong? And who gets to draw that line? The Apocolytes are growing stronger, but Meyers is too, and only one of them can be the bad guy. But which? Jackson needs to choose sides, and he needs to do it fast. But in the end only the biggest tragedy of them all can force his hand.

His life will never be the same, his family will never survive, and his ideals can be shattered or overturned. Assassinations are all part of the job, he's always dealt in lies and secrets. But now there's something much more personal on the line: vengeance. Saving the world from terrorists is no big deal, knowing who the terrorists are is the real trick.

Fire War III: Uprising

Anthony Jackson. Patriot. Spy. Widower. Still reeling after the death of his wife, Jackson is numbly training antigovernment troops. Confident that his role in political affairs has dwindled to being a glorified shooting teacher, Jackson is slowly trying to piece his heart back together. Until the call comes. The rebels are far from done with Jackson, and this time the promised reward is big and juicy: the Presidency.

As the world slowly falls apart, men fight and men die, and Anthony Jackson cannot simply watch. Something has to change, and someone has to change things, and deep down, Jackson knows that he's the only man that can do the job. But as cities fall, the eternal question continues to burn in his mind: just who can he really trust?

In a world of lies and secrets, where even the ones you love can betray you, Jackson must find right and justice. Only then can he lead the country that he loves. If he survives that long.

Review

I just started this series. I started off with Book #1, and am now adding the next two in the series to my TBR pile, I definitely need to continue the series after reading the first.

The plot was very well paced and while some parts were easy to predict, there were also plenty of surprises along the way and ultimately it led to a great read overall.

You will not be disappointed by the world T.T. Michael has created and the action and adventure that has come from his imagination.

Review

I love this cover. I think that it is a great cover to depict the feel of the novel.

A Main character who is easy to relate to and understand. Trent really appeals to the reader and you care what happens to him throughout the novel. I really liked the forbidden aspect of the novel. Those romances are always my favorites.

This is definitely a Romantic Suspense novel that will make you think and keep you guessing.  Then you will want book #2 as soon as possible!

Book Tour & Book Review: The Stark Divide by @jscoatsworth #review #scifi

Sci-Fi
Date Published: 10/10/17
Publisher: DSP Publications

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Some stories are epic.

The Earth is in a state of collapse, with wars breaking out over resources and an environment pushed to the edge by human greed.

Three living generation ships have been built with a combination of genetic mastery, artificial intelligence, technology, and raw materials harvested from the asteroid belt. This is the story of one of them—43 Ariadne, or Forever, as her inhabitants call her—a living world that carries the remaining hopes of humanity, and the three generations of scientists, engineers, and explorers working to colonize her.

From her humble beginnings as a seedling saved from disaster to the start of her journey across the void of space toward a new home for the human race, The Stark Divide tells the tales of the world, the people who made her, and the few who will become something altogether beyond human.

Humankind has just taken its first step toward the stars.

Book One of Liminal Sky

Review

A solid Sci-Fi Novel. The premise is unique, which made me excited to read it just from the synopsis. This is one of those stories that will start off with a bang and not let up until the very last page. It really keeps on a great pace throughout.  Scott J. Coatsworth has really created an imaginative sci-fi novel with drama and surprises.

Being that it is the first in a series, there are unanswered questions. We will have to wait for the big answers, but the first installment itself was wrapped up.

About the Author

Scott spends his time between the here and now and the what could be. Enticed into fantasy and sci fi by his mom at the tender age of nine, he devoured her Science Fiction Book Club library. But as he grew up, he wondered where all the people like him were in the books he was reading.

He decided that it was time to create the kinds of stories he couldn’t find at his local bookstore. If there weren’t gay characters in his favorite genres, he would remake them to his own ends.

His friends say Scott’s mind works a little differently – he sees relationships between things that others miss, and gets more done in a day than most folks manage in a week. He loves to transform traditional sci fi, fantasy, and contemporary worlds into something unexpected.

Starting in 2014, Scott has published more than 15 works, including two novels and a number of novellas and short stories.

He runs both Queer Sci Fi and QueeRomance Ink with his husband Mark, sites that bring queer people together to promote and celebrate fiction that reflects their own lives.

Release Blitz: Dark Hunter

Title: Dark Hunter (Zeta Cartel #4)
Author: AJ Adams
Genre: Dark Romance
Standalone read, 100,000 words $3.99

Rip Marston is a merciless killing machine. After a decade of hunting his prey, Rip joins the Zetas. The job offers protection as he practices his dark arts, but the Cartel are wary of the monster in their midst.

Finding a badly beaten unconscious girl, Rip sees an opportunity. Posing as her saviour will please the cartel - and provide him with his very own helpless captive.

Isabella Maria Franco is beautiful, wilful and used to making hard choices. Having grown up in the comfortable but lethal embrace of the Gulf cartel, she rejected a life of violence. But when a dark presence from her past returns, her world falls apart.

Betrayed and beaten, she escapes, only to find herself in a living nightmare. Surrounded by her enemies, one man stands between her and death. Terrified by her sadistic captor, she has little choice but to submit.

But embracing his darkness leads to consequences neither anticipated.

WARNING: This bad boy dark romance contains explicit scenes of dubious consent, graphic violence, sex and probably every trigger you can think of.

I was sitting on the sofa, drinking my rum. It tasted mercifully strong, so I went for it. Anything to numb my senses. I was wishing I’d never come out of my crazy haze. Reality was scary as hell, and I was low on courage.

Rip was next to me, his arm around my shoulders. “I’m going to enjoy having you around,” he’d said.

I wanted to down the rum in one. With no tolerance, I’d be drunk. Maybe I’d be out completely. Looking down, I could see his cock bulge in his jeans. The thought of being at the mercy of this man terrified me.

As I sipped at the iced rum, that awful beating came rushing back.
Mitch snarling, “Don Valentine says she’s to disappear.”
“She won’t come back from where I’m taking her.”
A boot in my ribs. “Make sure you fuck her up the ass from me.”

They had planned to have me tortured as a sex slave for the rest of my life. I’d escaped them, only to land in exactly the same kind of trouble. It made me sick to my stomach. Was a rape worse than a beating? Soon I’d find out for myself.
